Whenever we had to make difficult decisions during our pregnancy (e.g., an elective amniocentisis, an induction due to elevated BP), she was there every step of the way, offering the pros and cons, scientific evidence and statistics, and support of whatever decision we made. She cultivated a relationship where no question ever felt too silly, where we felt fully comfortable with her, and trusted her during this often nerve-racking time. Not to mention, she has been so incredibly helpful postpartum as well - both with caring for our baby and ourselves.
We would recommend Angelica wholeheartedly to anyone!

And my husband, who at first was against a doula, said it was the best money we could have spent, and our birth experience would have been very different if she was not here.
Let’s start by the selection of my doula: This was my first baby, and I myself work in health care so I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it come to human body and medical field. I interviewed 4 different doulas, but Angelica was the first one who made me feel (in a good way) that she knew more than me, while validating all the knowledge I already had. That was a very important point for me for when choosing a doula.
Second; from the moment we started working together until the delivery, she was here for every question I had. She also helped me advocate with my OB to delay a possible induction (I had a perfectly healthy pregnancy). On the day of, she was a text away or a call away when the contractions where further apart, and she was here as soon as they got closer. My husband was really reluctant to have a doula, but she helped him help me through the contractions, and it was an incredibly peaceful teamwork that emerged! I did not want an epidural so we stayed home as long as possible, and Angelica was here to reassure us and monitor things along the way. When it was time to go, she sent my husband to get the car and stayed with me. She was the perfect link between him and I where I could focus on my contractions and keep us moving. Once at the hospital she was the most incredible support and advocate you can dream of!! We had to make some importants decisions, and she was here to tell us the pros and con of the choice we were offered!! She also became the link between us and the medical staff as she knew exactly my birth plans!! When it was time to push, she was here and her and her smile and amazing mood made me full of energy. During the golden hour she showed me how to nurse my son and it was absolutely magical!!

Mom:
I had a hard time finding a doula! I was disappointed in how low energy the doulas I met were, I was the only one asking questions or trying to engage in conversation. Finally, I met Angelica! I knew Angelica was the doula for me right away because of her positive, proactive vibe. She was involved in the interview, asking me as many questions as I asked her, so I felt confident that she would be an involved support person before, during, and after my birth… and I was right!
I had several diagnosis during my pregnancy that were confusing and worrisome to deal with, and I also considered switching providers: Angelica was extremely helpful during all these issues, and I’m really grateful I had her to talk my options out with.
I couldn’t have asked for a better support person during my birth. I can be a very anxious person, especially about people being flaky, but I never once had to worry about whether Angelica would show up. By the time my birth took place, Angelica had shown over months what a solid, reliable, strong support person she is. She made herself very available during my multi-day induction, staying in the neighborhood during the day, and then overnight in the waiting room. And, she was exactly the cheerleader I needed during active labor when I was working through the pain (and when I was making the decision to get an epidural) and when it came time to push! She took wonderful photos of the birth and helped me get oriented and have my first latch once my baby arrived.
She’s checked in frequently since I’ve given birth, and has been such a solid, wonderful support person. I needed someone who was knowledgeable, take charge, great with anxious patients, and caring, and that’s exactly who Angelica is. I’m so grateful I found her!

After meeting Angelica, I knew she was the right doula for us when I saw how she combined technical expertise with confidence and emotional sensitivity. I liked that Angelica was able to answer our questions on topics ranging from prenatal advice to what the hospital experience might look like to things to be aware of after the baby would arrive.
During the birth, Angelica supported me by clearly explaining everything that was going on and politely directing me to ways I might help without getting in the way.
After the birth, one of our nurses came up to me and said “Many doulas are a sham but Angelica is the real deal — you’re lucky she was your doula,” and mom and I agree!
Since birth, Angelica has has followed up with us consistently, offering her insights on all sorts of things to help the baby in her first few weeks. Angelica is kind, cool, and informed. You’ll be glad you worked with her for sure!

Once she was in the labor and delivery room with us, she was an instant source of calm and comfort. In addition to providing practical and hands on support to me, alongside (not in lieu of!) my husband towards the final leg of my labor, having her regular commentary and perspective about how things were progressing and what we could expect at each step of the way, and knowing that there was someone on our “team” who had seen this all before, allowed both me and my husband to feel much more relaxed at the hospital.
We especially appreciated her guidance when we had to make some decisions that deviated from our original birth plan. She provided a balanced perspective, suggesting approaches at (what felt to us like) big decision points (e.g., deciding whether or not to get an epidural) that aligned with our preferences and considered the evolving circumstances — both the clinical and practical circumstances, but also humanistic (e.g., how physically and mentally exhausted I was).
Ultimately, it was reassuring to know that there was someone who had our interests in mind in the delivery room with us and who we knew had no problem advocating for us if necessary. She was wonderful at interacting with all of the providers at the hospital, perfectly balancing being an advocate for us as patients and building a positive/constructive rapport with all the nurses and our delivering OB. Angelica was a critical and formative part of our first birth and I couldn’t have imagined doing it without her!

As first time parents, we were overwhelmed by the sea of information on the birthing process and medical system, and sought the help of a doula to help navigate this, as well as alleviate some of the anxiety I was feeling around giving birth. Angelica helped us craft our birth plan, taking us through decision points step-by-step and explaining the considerations through both anecdotal and data driven evidence. One of the first suggestions she made was that I change hospitals as I wanted to avoid a c-section as much as possible, and she helped me through the whole process including finding a corresponding ob provider that took my insurance, and in the end, this was one of the best decisions we made! The day of the birth, my husband and I were so relieved that Angelica was with us throughout the entire process. We were faced with making a couple decisions that we wouldn’t have known how to make had we not had Angelica’s guidance and experience. She also made sure to ask about and insist for everything I was anxious about - vaginal tearing, golden hour, breastfeeding, etc. Before this pregnancy, we did not even know what a doula was, but now, we 100% believe in the value that a doula can bring to ensuring a positive birthing experience. It is especially thanks to Angelica that we were able to have this positive birth experience for the arrival of our daughter, and we couldn’t be happier!

I truly can't imagine having gone through this without her. Despite my birth ending in a c-section, her care before and during labor were unmatched. I would highly recommend her to any expecting mother. Most OB practices have a rotating cast of doctors. Having a knowledgeable, familiar advocate in the room for you at the most crucial time is invaluable. If you are questioning if it's worth it – it's absolutely worth every penny and made my experience infinitely better than what it would have been without her.
